Ambassador Dr. Ahmed Al Banna visits Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT)

In his first official visit to Gujarat UAE Ambassador Dr. Ahmed Al Banna visited the GIFT City, Gandhinagar on 20 July, 2016.

Dr. Ahmed Al Banna, UAE Ambassador to India was received by Mr. Ajay Pandey, MD and Group CEO – GIFT CITY and his team. Mr. Ajay Pandey conveyed his gratitude to H.E Dr. Ahmed Al Banna for visiting Gujarat and the GIFT City.

During the meeting Mr. Ajay Pandey explained how Gujarat International Finance Tec-city is a globally benchmarked International Financial service centre Developed by Government of Gujarat through a joint venture Company GIFTCL.

He mentioned that GIFT will cater to India’s large financial services potential by offering global firms, world-class infrastructure and facilities. It aims to attract the top talent in the country by providing the finest quality of life. It is estimated that GIFT would provide 500,000 direct and an equal number of indirect jobs which would require 62 million square feet of real estate office and residential space.

He also highlighted that recognizing the potential of the state as a centre for the financial services industry, the government of Gujarat formulated GIFT city project to realize the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India.

H.E Dr. Ahmed Al Banna and Mr. Ajay Pandey also explored the possibilities of mutual collaboration between GIFT City and the various financial centres in the UAE.

During the Gujarat Visit, the Ambassador also met with officials of the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI) and their member companies in Ahmedabad.

An interactive meeting was organised by GCCI to further strengthen the trade and economic relations between the UAE and India. The Ambassador briefed the GCCI and its members about various opportunities UAE presents for Indian companies in the renewable energy, chemicals, Gems & Jewellery, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals and education sectors. Ambassador called for a closer co-operation between UAE and Gujarat based companies in Research and Development in the renewable and food sector.
