TO INDIA MEETS H.E. MR. M.J. AKBAR,
MINISTER OF STATE FOR EXTERNAL AFFAIRS, GOVERNMENT OF INDIA

New Delhi | July 11, 2017

H.E. Dr. Ahmed Albanna, UAE Ambassador to India met H.E Mr. M.J. Akbar, Minister of State for External Affairs, Government of India at the latter’s office at New Delhi, on Monday, 10th July 2017.

In the meeting H.E. Dr. Ahmed Al Banna and H.E. Mr. M.J. Akbar reiterated their commitment to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in diverse sectors and to deepen the traditionally close and friendly relationship between the two countries.

H.E. Dr. Ahmed Al Banna had an intensive discussion and clarified the position of UAE and referred to the current ties with Qatar. He explained the entire aspects of UAE and full support to GCC and also pointed out that the action against Qatar was taken after providing enough opportunities to amend its policies and refrain from supporting terrorist groups. He further explained that the entry and transit of Qatari citizens to the UAE was also prohibited for security reasons.

Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt have cited their concern over the security and stability of their nations, claiming that Qatar is extending support to "terrorism" and to meddle in the internal affairs of its brethren in the GCC and other Arab countries. The four countries have closed all land, air and sea ports. Qatar government also failed to comply Arab Islamic - American summit held on 21st May 2017

H.E. Dr. Ahmed Albanna explained that the decision of the United Arab Emirates and other countries was not hasty and avoided, but came after many attempts and initiatives to discourage Qatar from all these subversive activities, including spreading and promoting the idea of ​​extremism and terrorism adopted by Qatar through supporting Al-Qaeda and the Brotherhood by using its media mechanisms for this purpose. He also stressed that the brotherly Qatari people have nothing to do with what the ruling regime is doing.

H.E Dr. Ahmed Al Banna and H.E. Mr. M.J Akbar further agreed to hold such meetings in future that will further open a window to discuss ways to consolidate and robust all aspects of India - UAE mutually beneficial ties.
