UAE Food Security Minister visit to India

New Delhi | March 27-28, 2019

H.E. Mariam Saeed Hareb Al Mehairi, UAE Minister of State for Food Security was on a visit to India from 27th – 28th Mar, 2019 with the agenda of Food Security for UAE. A no. of meetings were aligned for her with the Indian Government Officials as well Private Industry owners. HE Dr Ahmed AlBanna, UAE Ambassador to India along with Mr. Ahmad AlFalahi, UAE Commercial Attaché to India accompanied Her Excellency during her visit.

Ms Mariam AlMehiri came to India with a vision of finding / establishing food security partner not just in terms of supplying the food products but a dependable long term partner which can work with UAE for better serving its food basket with knowledge sharing, student exchange in field of Agriculture Technology, cooperation between the R&D of the two countries of this sector, working on closed system farming methods, customizing and standardizing the products as per UAE requirements, promotion of nutrition foods, promoting organic foods and organic farming, quinoa farming, reducing food loss and food waste, cultivation of agriculture products specially for the UAE and sharing the best practices of farming with UAE farmers and to have a two way open channel for investment in both countries with the objective of fulfilling the food security requirements as both of the countries have created economic zones serving these purposes and being prepared for the Food Crisis situations.

Her Excellency also explained to all about the recent announcement of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces in promoting the ‘Agri-Tech’ and approving AED 5.6 billion to support research and development into the global challenges of water scarcity & food security over the next five years.
