H.E. Dr. Ahmed A.R. AlBanna, Ambassador of the UAE to India attended the roadshow organized by Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA), in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in New Delhi on 29 April 2019.

The objective of this event is to highlight the business & investment opportunities in Dubai mainly in business sectors like Information technology, Telecom, Semiconductor, Biotech, Data Center, Mobile technologies, Internet, Solar renewable energy, and Software development.

H.E. Dr. AlBanna in his keynote address spoke of the vibrant and growing relationship between UAE and India. He recalled that the recent two visit of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces to India in 2016 and 2017 and two recent visits of Prime Minister of India H.E. Narendra Modi to UAE witnessed the signing of many significant MoUs, especially in the field of energy. He said that the role of trade in industrial relations is significant, and that India and UAE share a rich trade history. He informed the audience about the Innovation Strategy formulated by UAE and said that the country is willing to create a business model out of it. He invited Indian companies to come and participate in this.

H.E. UAE Ambassador added that UAE-India bilateral trade continue to soar and today it is worth US$57 billion, making India the largest trading partner of the UAE, while the UAE is India’s third largest trading partner – after China and the US. 2018 saw a flurry of investments by UAE companies in India, and the UAE-India relationship has entered a vibrant growth phase with bilateral trade on track to exceed US$100 billion by 2020.”

He further highlighted the importance of the roadshow as it provided an ideal platform for UAE companies to learn about India’s business environment, while it also enabled the UAE Free Zones to showcase the various advantages that the emirate can offer Indian businesses.

The DSOA delegation consist of Mr. Naif Al Rustamani, Senior Associate Manager, Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority, Mr. Mr. Hans Henrik Christensen, Vice President Dubai Technology Entrepreneurship Centre, Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority and other senior representatives of the authority.

Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA) is the regulatory authority of DSO, a wholly owned entity by the Government of Dubai and is considered the only Technology Park in the region that provides both a living and working integrated Community. DSOA was established with the Mission to "Facilitate and Promote modern technology based Industries" thus supporting the demand for those who are looking for business opportunities and expansion in the region.

The DSOA delegates outlined the procedures for setting up a business at DSO and provided a general overview of the growth prospects and benefits that operating from the integrated hi-tech park brings.

The DSOA trade mission showcased its landmark project, Silicon Park, the first integrated smart city in Dubai that sets a new global benchmark for smart technology solutions. Scheduled for handover in Q2 2019, Silicon Park will comprise 71,000 square meters of office space, 25,000 square meters of commercial space, and 46,000 square meters of residential area. The community will feature a host of value-added contemporary lifestyle facilities, such as restaurants, cafés, fitness centers, running tracks and cycling trails, a shopping center, and an underground parking that can accommodate more than 2,500 cars.

Naaif Al Rustamani, Senior Associate Manager, Corporate Sales, Government of Dubai said: that “the DSOA trade mission to India aims to strengthen cooperation, exchange experiences with local Indian companies, and present the new investment opportunities as well as the unique services and facilities DSOA offers foreign companies.

Next day to the roadshow, i.e. 30 April 2019, DSOA and CII organized number of B2B meetings that included discussions about Indian Tech Companies Middle East expansion plans and explored the collaboration opportunities. DSOA senior officials shared the information related to Dubai Foreign Direct Investments as well as the various benefits that are offered at Dubai Silicon Oasis for Indian Industry. New Delhi was the second leg of DSOA trade mission to India and before New Delhi, DSOA organized the similar roadshow and B2B meetings in the Bengaluru with CII on 25-26 April 2019.
