New Delhi | March 19, 2019

H.E. Dr. Ahmed Al Banna, UAE Ambassador to India along with Mr. Ahmad Sultan Ahmad Harib Al Falahi, UAE Commercial Attaché to India, met Shri T.S.Tirumurti, Secretary (ER) & Dr. T.V. Nagendra Prasad, JS (Gulf), MEA, Government of India, on 19th March, 2019, at New Delhi, to raise the issue of ADIA- clubbing & taxation on sister companies & air service agreements and to elaborate  a number of new key issues of mutual importance.

Ambassador briefed Secretary (ER)-MEA about the current state of UAE-India Civil Aviation pending issues. He referred to the note verbal received by Embassy of UAE on 27th February 2019, (dated 18 February 2019), for a Civil Aviation Air Service Sector’s meeting, to be held on 1st March 2019. He conveyed his disappointment mentioning that a call for a meeting at such a short notice was not appropriate.

Ambassador also mentioned about establishing a strong tie in the agriculture & food business with India in terms of food security, further to that he shared  the details of the upcoming visit of Her Excellency Mariam bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Al Mehairi, Minister of State for Food Security, UAE, to India, taking place between 27th March, 2019 till 29th March 2019. During her visit H.E. the minister would like to meet her counterpart in India, Minister of Agriculture, Minister of Food Processing & Minister Commerce & Industry, Government of India, to begin a long term association between  both the countries  and discuss  the progressive initiatives in the food sector.

Secretary ER assured H.E. Dr Albanna an early confirmation on above points.

The meeting culminated on a positive note with both the sides agreeing to work together and focusing on finding the way forward to address concerns of both sides.
