A meeting was convened between H.E. Dr. Ahmed AlBanna, UAE Ambassador to India and Ms. Vini Mahajan, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Punjab (Department of Investment Promotion; Industries & Commerce; IT; Governance Reforms & Public Grievances) on October 4, 2019 at Ambassador Office. Mr. Ahmad Al Falahi, UAE Commercial Attache accompanied H.E. UAE Ambassador for the meeting. Mr. Rajat Aggarwal, CEO, Invest Punjab also attended the meeting.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the UAE participation at Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit 2019 to be held on 5th-6th December 2019 at Mohali, Punjab. The said meeting was the follow-up of the recent meeting of H.E. Dr. Ahmed AlBanna with the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Punjab Capt. Amarinder Singh in New Delhi.
The Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit 2019 is the flagship business event of the Government of Punjab. In this event Punjab will showcase the policy & regulatory environment and the investment opportunities in the state.
Ms. Vini Mahajan on the behalf of Government of Punjab extended an invite to H.E. Dr. Ahmed AlBanna for UAE to participate as a Partner Country in Progressive Punjab Investors’Summit 2019.
H.E. Dr. Ahmed AlBanna assured the visiting Punjab Government delegation for his support to secure the high level participation from UAE companies. He indicated that the UAE delegation will be comprised of high level participation from UAE government and private sector companies namely DP world, Emaar, Sharaf Group, Lulu Group, Dubai Chamber of Commerce, UAE-India Business Council (UIBC) and representations from Airlines and Banking companies.
During the meeting, both sides also discussed to enhance the air connectivity between UAE-Punjab to boost trade & business activities and expressed their willingness to work closely on this in future.
Further, the meeting saw discussions on cooperation ties between UAE and Punjab in the tourism and hospitality sector. The possibility of UAE investment in hospitality sector in Punjab was discussed in detail.
